
The Royal Belum is one of the great contributions from the State Government of Perak to
Malaysia in conserving the biodiversity. It lies in the most northerly region of Perak where the
main Titiwangsa mountain range begins. The whole of Royal Belum area is located within the
Belum Forest Reserve which has total area of 134,167 ha.
The Royal Belum has a great potential as a world-class protected virgin jungle area due to its
large geographical land area, strategic parameter, unique landscapes and it is located towards
the northern region of the Peninsular. It is also the second largest protected jungle area in
Peninsular after Taman Negara. The area of the State Park is inclusive of approximately 117,500
ha (90%) of Belum Forest Reserve. The total area of Royal Belum State Park is approximately
124,018 ha.
The Royal Belum State Park is a heaven of biodiversity. The forest contains a huge magnitude of
refuge for a wide array of plants and animals.
